The poetry of Jan Vermeer’s vision and the brilliant splendor of the light he captures evoke the work of his fellow countryman Jan van Eyck. His calm and peaceful paintings derive from his own meditation and analysis of the world around him. He almost always explored the same theme – the corner of a room, but with a unique, exquisite, tantalizing observation of the organization of space, light and human relationship. His paintings were almost completely forgotten until mid 19th century.
